ROMAGNA FESTIVALS

      Festivas, a typical way to propose food and traditions. The follows are the most important of Romagna:

Baccalà/Stockfish:
An old receipt typical of the FESTA DEL PERDONO in Bagno di Romagna, that hold the second Friday of March.

Bustreng:
barbaric name of a salad cake of Borghi. Its festivals is hold the second Sunday of May.

image Chestnut:
The most important fruit of the autumn festival, as the "Frutti del sottobosco"
of Portico di Romagna , second Sunday of October, or the "chestnut" festival of Alfero and the one of Castel del Rio , the last Sunday of October and so on....

Cherry:
Very good are cherries of Bidente Valley, and the festival holds in Civitella di Romagna the last Sunday of June.

Cheese and Salumi/ (cold meat):
In Mercato Saraceno, in the Savio valley, on the first Sunday of May is hold the "Foramggi and Salumi" festival.

Formaggio di fossa (cheese):
Ancient speciality of Sogliano del Rubicone that dedicates to this cheese a festival the third Sunday of November. This cheese is put in a cave for the maturing period and this particular place give to it a particular taste.

Lavander:
Scented flower. Bunch of flowers, garlic, and red sugar whistles symbolized the S.Giovanni festival the 24th June in Cesena.

Olive oils:
In Longiano, the olive oil festival with its specialities from the ancient oil mill near Blignano.

Pagnotta di Pasqua/ Easter cake:
Sweet cake, speciality of Savio valley, during the Easter period. In Sarsina the rendezvous with this festival is on the Palm Sunday.

These are the ingredients: water, salt and floor. The smell is good and fragrant. Queen of the romagnole tables is also the queen of many festivals.You can taste it alone or with "scquaccherone" a local cheese or stuffed with spinach or something else.
Pesce azzurro:
Pesce azzurro means: sardines, Sgombero ( fish ) , saraghine (fish)...... a simple delight of Adriatic sea.
Usually cooked in grill, during festival is proposed to people in many ways.You can taste it in Cesnatico , Gatteo a Mare during the summer time.

Sangiovese:
The most important and loved wine in Romagna ( also the Albana). During the second Sunday of May Predappio dedicates to this wine a festival but not less important are the ones of Bertinoro , Mercato Saraceno ...

Tartuffe:
Speaking of "trifola" ( white Tartuffe, the best, the dearest one )means speak about the traditional festival of Tartuffe in Dovadola, during the second-last and the last Sunday of October.

Eggs:
Not Chocolate Easter eggs. In Tredozio during the Easter Sunday and Monday hold the eggs festival.
