COMPANY PROFILE

The craft firm EUROCAVE s.n.c. was founded on 1st January 2002. At first sight it might seem a recently created company, but actually it has a thirty year experience in the pietra serena digging and working sector. Indeed, its origins date back to the '70s, since the forerunners of EUROCAVE s.n.c. are Deluca Francesco and his wife Rita, Paolo and Gabriele';s parents with Paolo and Gabriele being the current owners of the firm. At the beginning of the '70s, Francesco and Rita found that within their farm there were courses of split and edged sandstone.

They started working split sandstone because they did not need much equipment and great investment. Their products were natural, half-worked or squared tiles, with hand made processing. They worked in the pit in spring and winter, when agricultural activities were less fervish. The revenues they got from their craftworks were fundamental for their family, since the mountain agriculture provided a very low income. Their son Paolo has always been keen on stone sculpting. Thanks to his father';s help, he has developed skills as squarer, exploiting the experience gained as employee in the firms of the sector located in the pits area, where machineries were already used. In 1988, after having acquired the necessary experience, he succeeded his father in the pits and founded the craft firm DELUCA PAOLO STONE WORKING.

Thanks to his efforts, the firm grew and got to hire two employees, creating a small laboratory that has been enlarged up to the current total surface of 500 m2 with a forecourt of 6000 m2. Deluca Paolo has been working in the field of stone digging and working until the 31st December. On this date he merged his firm with EUROCAVE s.n.c., in which one of the partners is his brother Deluca Gabriele. Gabriele has been working as an elementary teacher for seventeen years, then he decided to give up teaching to devote himself to craftworks together with his brother Paolo. EUROCAVE works in the field of pietra serena digging and working, it owns pits of split and edged natural pietra serena in Villa di Corneto, in the Verghereto municipality (Province of Forlì-Cesena). At present, the firm is made up of five employees and two employers. In its lab there is a permanent showroom where it is possible to see the main craftworks by EUROCAVE, accurately handmade.

On demand of a customer, EUROCAVE can produce handmade products according to the sketches provided by the customer as well as provide estimates of costs for works to be realised. The main products are stones of different kinds for street furniture, restorations, modern building industry and interior decoration. EUROCAVE also produces raw handmade natural products, bush-faced or stippled, that suit country environments. Materials can be aged in order to be used in restorations without highlighting the changes, thus harmonizing new features with ancient ones.
