The name Dovadola comes from the latin word Duo Vadora, two fords on Montone river.
Dovadola is a little country that was subjected by Celt, Romans, Longobards and in the XII century by the archbishop of Ravenna.
Later was subjected by the Guidi family of Modigliana, later by Ordelaffi family and in 1405 by Republic of Florence.
Il Dovadola you can visit Oratorio di S.Antonio built in baroque style and the Rocca than later become Fortificato palace.
In the ovest side stands Blanc Palace (palazzo Bianco).
Today Dovadola is famous for a special type of Tartufle that borne spontaneously in this territory.
Every autumn, during the tartufle festival, is award a prize to the best tartufle seller.
Not far from Dovadola stands the shrine of Monte Paolo. This Shrine is dedicated to sant'Antonio from Padova , an holy that here lived for a short time.
The was rebuilt in 1900 with a newgotich style.
Next to the shrine, a wood, in which stands Sant'Antonio cave. A wonderful place in which you can find quiet and serenity.
