Torrina has Villanovan origins. After the X century it was submitted by Malatesta family from Verucchio. Later was submitted by Venice but in few years it was conquered back by the Papal State. In 1300 Torriana was the centre of lighting signalling in the valley , taking part of the sophisticated lighting system which arrived until Urbino protecting the all Montefeltro.
The ancient name of "Scorticata" was changed by Mussolini in 1938 in Torriana.
At the end of '70 years Torriana incorporated in its territory also Montebello a resort really famous for its castle.
Between Montebello and Torriana rise the Saiano hill overlooking Marecchia river, where in 1300 was built a church dedicated to Madonna.
Toriana and Montebello offer to their tourists testimonies of Malatesta period. In fact in both resort rise castles and ruins of tower built during the domination of the old family from Rimini.
To taste some specialities of these lands restaurants and taverns offer you the best of the Romagna cooking.
In Montebello, thanks to an intelligent restoration of the old medieval village, we can see and visit the resort as it was in the past.
Also the Saino Church is in restoration: the sanctuary is a really interesting place to visit for everybody who wants to have a total view of Marecchia valley, a loved place also by the poet Tonino Guerra.
