VERGHERETO

      In Verghereto were discovered archaeological finds about ca 10.000 years ago, that are testimony of human settlements starting from the prehistoric period.
These settlements were possible thanks to the position of Montecoronaro pass that is one of the most low of Appennino. In Montecoronaro slopes start the Savio and Tevere valleys.
Later we have testimony of other human settlement about the X century trough the building of abbeys and monasteries.
During the XIV century Verghereto within Rocca were community of 1000 inhabitants and governed by Sant¹Angelo di Verghereto abbey.
At the beginning of XV Florence submitted Verghereto and so this resort became the chief town in 1404.
In 1923 Verghereto is inserted in Forlì province.
Sight of interest is San Michele church that was part of the San Romualdo abbey.
      Other interesting surrounding resorts are Alfero, Balze, Montecoronaro, Riofreddo e Ville.
Suggestive are the Tevere and Savio sources.
To visit are also the working of Pietra Serena, in Para land.
In Fumaiolo mountain is possible to ski thank to ski-lift and ring of cross country skiing. In Verghereto, during the summer period take part many festivals.
